Nearly three-quarters of the public have started their Christmas shopping early, so they can spread the cost of the festive season and get their gifts before the rush.
A report by Sensormatic Solutions revealed 73 per cent of British shoppers will be more careful about finding good deals on presents this year, in light of rising prices.
It also revealed if you have started your Christmas shopping, you are in good company, as more than half of UK shoppers had begun their festive purchases by the end of October.
Last-minute shopping is no longer a trend anymore, as 79 per cent claimed they would have started shopping by the time December rolls around.
In fact, nearly a third of consumers are so organised this year, they started in September, which is an impressive 22 per cent higher than last year.
So why is the public being much more prepared this Christmas? According to retail consultant at Sensormatic Solutions Andy Sumpter, it could all be down to pricing and product availability.
Many customers are making the most of a good deal when they see one, as well as being conscious of supply shortages leading up to December 25th.
What’s more, thanks to Royal Mail strikes, lots of people are worried about leaving it too late to get presents delivered in time.
Despite more consumers shopping earlier this year, Sensormatic predicted the busiest retail days before Christmas in the UK will be December 23rd, December 22nd, December 17th, December 10th and December 3rd.
